The Portrait Sessions

After working for nearly three decades at Central Saint Martins School of Art in London, I left at the end of July 2025. To leave, was to leave the safety of a community that I had relied on for a long time. In other words, while I have always pursued my own projects and goals, I’ve inevitably become institutionalised. As the date of departure drew closer I wondered what to leave behind and what to take with me. A plan took shape and I decided to invite everyone to come and have their portrait taken. It was one way to give something to everyone and leave with something for myself. In the end I was commissioned to take the portraits and made over a hundred during two day long sessions.
